About this Exploration:
Would you suspect that a small town of just over 1,800 people in western Kansas would be designing and constructing furniture for the rich and famous? Think again!
Dessin Fournir is a rapidly expanding industry in Plainville specializing in upscale furniture, classic textiles, and light and lamp fixtures.
Currently, the company has showrooms in 15 cities throughout the United States, along with two in Canada and one in Russia.
Furniture from Dessin Fournir has been featured in movies such as Oceans 12, Something's Gotta Give, and What Women Want. A sconce manufactured by Palmer Hargrave was used in the luxury boxes of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. Oh, and how about furniture for the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Elton John, and Janet Jackson!
