Phillipsburg, Kansas nestled on the border of the High Plains and Smoky Hills region in northwest Kansas, was once termed "The City of the Hills" because of its location on the uplands of Deer Creek. This town is now known as the cow-calf capital of Kansas and home to the "Phillipsburger." While traveling through for a bite to eat or stretching out your legs a bit, this community offers the "explorer" lots of places to see and stuff to discover. Whether it is one of the historic buildings downtown, the brick lined streets, WPA park bridges or Old Fort Bissell, a historian will be delighted by what he finds.  Perhaps history isn't your preference, and festivals or events are.  Then be sure and check out Kansas Biggest Rodeo, Riverless Festival, Girl's Night Out, the Farmers Market or U.S. Hwy 36 Treasure Hunt.  These events are full of excitement, fun and a hometown atmosphere. Is there an artistic feel to your ventures? One will want to see the once controversial nude statue sent from Italy, the Wizard of Oz painting inside one of the local pharmacies or visit the Huck Boyd Community Center.   

 

Phillipsburg residents are friendly folks, proud of their rural Kansas town. Sit down and visit while you are in town. If your conversation is not over enjoying a Phillipsburger, perhaps it will be when you are eating one of Shelly Ann's plate sized pancakes or Third Street Bakery's chocolate honker. Whatever the case, you will find the atmosphere and dialogue enlighting.
