In the Fall of 2006, over 50 members of the community painted this mural under the guidance of Christina Lamoureaux, the mural designer and Hoisington High School Art instructor.

 

Read the poem below and come visit the mural to find its face, lines, train, pipe work, waters of Cheyenne Bottoms, oil derrick, red sun, wheat, buffalo and Kansas Plains. 

    

    The Prairie Wavemaker

What story lies within the face.

What story resonates in the whistle of the train.

Does the path of the line within the journey

fly lyrically free as a Sand Hill crane in the sky.

 

It is said--"We are as treasures in jars of clay"...

for the story within the voice of the vessel

creates the pathways and lines...

pathway and lines with life that can give

a powerful sense of movement

by simply lifting up an edge.
