Event Description:

Every year in July, Downs hosts visitors,returning residents, and the entire community in a celebration of a completed wheat harvest and a homecoming for families and friends. The first Celebration was held in 1885 when the town declared an annual holiday to commemorate its founding six years earlier. Political figures and area town bands were touted asattractions, with a grand finale of fireworks.

Today, 125 years later,the Celebration is going strong and each July the town rallies an assortment of amusements including a talent show, fun run, ball tournaments, parade, alumni reunion, carnival, children's events, music, and lots of tasty confections.

This year's Celebration is scheduled for July 8, 9, and 10.
