This cafe was also the Doughboy Cafe in the 1930s.  When Jonathan Hughes returned from World War l as a doughboy he decided to open a cafe in Coolidge, called The Doughboy.  He and his family lived in the east side of the cafe. 

 

The original bakery was the Pappas Bakery. Mrs. Pappas built one of the few brick buildings in Coolidge in the late 1880s. 

 

It is under major renovation with a planned opening in September of 2012.  It will feature mesquite smoked steaks and hamburgers!
